North Lombok - The Regent of North Lombok, Najmul Akhyar, said that the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) has become an ongoing programme held every year in five sub-districts in North Lombok.
The programme aims to maintain food price stability and ensure that people can obtain basic necessities at affordable prices.
Regent Najmul emphasized that the local government remains committed to supporting the welfare of the community, especially in dealing with fluctuations in the prices of basic necessities.
‘The local government remains committed to maintaining food price stability and helping the community obtain basic necessities at affordable prices. We provide subsidies so that the prices of basic necessities are cheaper, only a few thousand difference,’ said Regent Najmul in his remarks when opening the Cheap Food Movement event at Tioq Tata Tunaq Public Square, Tanjung, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province on Monday (16/3/2025).
The Head of the North Lombok District Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service (DKP3), Tresnahadi, explained that the Cheap Food Movement aims to maintain the stability of staple food prices, both at the producer and consumer levels. This programme is a concrete step by the North Lombok Regency Government in overcoming the frequent surge in staple food prices.
‘This movement aims to ensure that people's purchasing power remains affordable, and to stabilise strategic food prices, so that the target community can obtain basic necessities at a fair price,’ said Tresnahadi.
The Cheap Food Movement is proof of the North Lombok Regency Government's commitment to supporting community welfare through targeted food policies. With this programme, the community can feel the direct benefits of government policies aimed at controlling the prices of basic necessities and improving accessibility to food.
